Julia holds degrees in Political Science, History, and Sociology
(University of Vienna/Universidad de Granada; Mag.a
phil.), Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation (University of Innsbruck/ Universitat Jaume I de Castelló; M.A.), Media and Communications/ Philosophy (European Graduate School; PhD) and Modern Thought (University of Aberdeen;
PhD).
She is the Principal Investigator of the arts-based research project Unknown Beyond Abyss: Toward Vocabularies of/for/at the Limit (funded by the Austrian Science Fund/FWF)
and has taught, researched and supervised across a dozen universities in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand and the UK, including
at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, University of Applied Arts Vienna, SFU Berlin, Central European University (Budapest), European Graduate
School (Saas-Fee/Valletta) or Ramkhamhaeng University (Bangkok).
A curator-coordinator and academic consultant for the animation film festival Tricky Women/Tricky Realities since 2020, she has worked for several art events as
well as NGO’s and, in 2023, co-founded graphinnen.at.
